Skintellect
Effective date: 7 July 2026 · Last updated: 7 July 2026
Skintellect is a skincare-ingredient scanner. This policy explains what data the app processes, what stays on your device, what is sent to our servers, and the choices you have. We built the app to keep as much as possible on your device.
Skintellect ("the app", "we", "us") is developed by Valentyn Bratkevych, an independent developer. For any privacy question or request, contact us at bratkevychv@proton.me. We are the controller of the limited data described below.
The following is created and stored only on your device and is never uploaded to us:
Because this data lives on your device, deleting the app removes it (the free-scan counter in the Keychain is the intentional exception, so the free allowance is not reset by reinstalling).
To analyze a product, the app sends our backend only:
en, fr) so results are returned in your language; These requests are cryptographically signed and sent over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. They do not include your name, email, device identifiers, or the photo. Our servers are hosted in the European Union.
To produce the ingredient assessment, our backend uses trusted third-party processing services (including AI providers) to interpret and summarize the ingredient information, and looks up public scientific literature for the references shown as sources. These providers process the ingredient text only to return your result; it is not used to train their models. Only the ingredient text is shared — nothing that identifies you.
We use a third-party analytics service to understand how the app is used (for example, which screens are opened and whether a scan completes) so we can improve it. This includes:
Analytics does not contain your name or email (we don't have them), and we do not use it for advertising or cross-app tracking. The data is processed by our analytics provider on our behalf.
Skintellect offers optional paid subscriptions. Purchases are handled by Apple through the App Store — we never see or store your payment details. We use a third-party subscription-management service to check whether a subscription is active; it receives an anonymous app-user identifier and the App Store transaction needed to validate the subscription — nothing that identifies you. See Apple's Privacy Policy.
The app has no sign-up or login. We do not build advertising profiles, we do not sell or rent personal data, and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
On-device data stays until you delete it or uninstall the app. Ingredient-analysis requests are processed to return your result and may be retained briefly in server logs for security and reliability, then discarded. Analytics data is retained by Amplitude according to our configured retention settings.
Skintellect is not directed to children and is intended for users aged 16 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has used the app, contact us and we will help.
Depending on where you live (for example under the EU/UK GDPR or the California CCPA), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal data, and to object to it. Because most data is on your device, you can exercise many of these rights directly by deleting the app. For anything held by us or our processors, email bratkevychv@proton.me and we will respond.
Our servers are in the EU. Some of our service providers may process data in the United States or other countries under appropriate safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with a new "Last updated" date. Continued use of the app after an update means you accept the revised policy.
